SUMMIT OF THE FUTURE
Aspirations and Possibilities
Our Common Agenda Discussion Series
5 May 2022
The Baha'i International Community and the Coalition for the UN We Need hosted the first in a Discussion Series around the UN Secretary-General's Our Common Agenda on Summit of the Future: Aspirations and Possibilities on Thursday 5 May 2022. The International Environment Forum is a co-sponsor of the discussion series.
This launched a monthly multi-stakeholder dialogue series which will provide opportunities to explore the UN Secretary-General's report and build consensus around features of a multilateralism that truly serves people and planet.
Speakers included Ms. Maria Fernanda Espinosa, President of the 73rd Session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Agustin Santos Maraver, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Spain to the UN, and Dr. Azza Karam, Secretary General of Religions for Peace, moderated by Daniel Perell of BIC.
The series represents an opportunity for Member States, the United Nations, and Civil Society to consider the most salient points emerging from the report, exploring areas requiring further consultation, including implications at local and national levels. At the end of each off-the-record discussion, a two-page unattributed summary will be created as a substantive contribution to the process. We aim to create a final compilation report in advance of the proposed 2023 Summit of the Future.
